Karen F. Dixon, CPC, QPA, QKA, President of Qualified Plan Administrators, Inc., has been working with qualified plans, administration and consulting since 1974.  Karen earned the professional designation of Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) in September of 2000. After successfully passing a series of written examinations, this designation is awarded by the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA) to benefits professionals employed in the fields of plan administration, pension actuarial administration, insurance and financial planning. Certified Pension Consultants are benefits professionals who work as advisors in plan administration, pension actuarial administration, insurance and financial planning.  CPCs work alongside employers to formulate, implement, administer and maintain qualified retirement plans.  Less than 700 people nationwide have attained this certification of achievement, including only 15 in Georgia and 6 in South Carolina, with Karen being the first to earn this certification in the Augusta and surrounding areas.

Karen earned the certification of Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) in 1997, and Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) in December of 2002. QPAs assist employers, actuaries and consultants in performing functions such as determination of eligibility for benefits, benefit computations, plan record keeping, trust accounting, and disclosure and compliance activities as required under current pension law. The Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) designation recognizes retirement plan professionals who work primarily with 401(k) plans. QKAs come from a variety of professional disciplines and assist employers and consultants with the recordkeeping, nondiscrimination testing, and administrative aspects of 401(k) and related defined contribution plans.  In October of 1999, Karen was appointed to ASPPA’s Women’s Pension Task Force and is a member of ASPPA’s Education and Examination Committee and Marketing Committee.  Karen was a featured speaker at ASPPA’s 2001 annual conference in Washington, D.C., frequently speaks at local and national accounting and administrative meetings and teaches various employee benefits classes for Lorman Education Services.
